A method for tuning Proportional Integral (PI) controllers from Matlab simulation obtained through an open loop step test over the process to be controlled. Performance of PI controller is dependent on Proportional Gain (Kp), and Integral Gain (Ki and the transfer function is given as: C(s)=K_p+K_i/s
Four indices to depict the system performance: ISE, IAE, ITAE and ITSE.
ISE=∫_0^∞▒〖e^2 (t)dt〗,
IAE=∫_0^∞▒|e(t)|dt,
ITAE=∫_0^∞▒t|e(t)|dt,
ITSE=∫_0^∞▒〖te^2 (t)dt〗
Therefore, for the MALO-based PI tuning, above indexes will be used to evaluate the performance of the design.
