The death toll has risen to 27 in three-day violence on the issue of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in north-east Delhi. More than 200 people were injured, out of which 70 were shot. Earlier on Tuesday, miscreants openly opened fire in the surrounding areas including #Maujpur, #Zafarabad and #Bhajanpura. The violence turned into tensions between the two communities. Guerrilla war continued on the streets throughout the day and the police looked helpless. Not only this, the rioters threw Edis at the paramilitary forces in Karaval Nagar, in which two soldiers were injured. Subsequently orders were given to shoot the rioters in the violence-hit areas.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with police and Home Ministry officials for the third time in less than 24 hours regarding the situation in Delhi. In this meeting which lasted for about 3 hours on Tuesday night, the newly appointed Special Commissioner of Delhi Police S.N. Srivastava also joined. After the meeting, National Security Advisor (NSA) #AjitDoval reached #Seelampur to take stock of the situation. At the same time, Shah also canceled his tour of Thiruvananthapuram.
