This is a song inspired by Malala Yousafzai. Malala was born 12 July 1997 in the town of Mingora, Pakistan. In early 2009, at the age of 11 years, Malala was known for her activism for education and women's rights, this at a time when the Taliban banned girls from attending school. On Tuesday 9 October 2012 on board a school bus a Taliban gunman asked for Malala then shot her three times. She was sent to England for treatment. On 12 October, 50 Islamic clerics in Pakistan issued a fatwa against those who had tried to kill Malala.
There was a international support for Malala. On 12 July 2013 Malala spoke at the UN and called for worldwide access for education, some of her words are spoken at the end of this song.
Liz wrote this song after hearing Malala's story, in support of women everywhere to live their life in peace & have access to education.
