Stepping isn't just for the backs
Every position benefits from more agility and a better step
So how can you make sure you're working towards improving this as a Rugby Player?
There are 3 key areas I want you to focus on, you can apply this to any skill/area in Rugby.
(In No particular order, you need all 3)
1) Work on the skill/area in isolation.
This is the lateral hop or a change in direction.
You won't be able to do it on the pitch in stressfull situations if you can't do it decently in isolation.
2) Develop the physical qualities that underpin the performance.
Strength/power/stability for the legs. Make sure you can produce lots of force to move your own bodyweight.
3) Practice makes perfect
Rugby practice is your time to test things out that you wouldn't yet dare do in a game...so do it.
Trying new things, techniques, moves, skills is where you will find out what works and what doesn't.
On a side note, props are getting more and more dynamic, agile, fast...
Backs are getting stronger and bigger
Everyones becoming more athletic: Fitter, Faster, Stronger.
Don't get left behind, you cannot afford to skip your Rugby Strength and Conditioning.
