French Troops Shore Up NATO Defense in Eastern Europe

Описание: French troops held drills in a military base in Estonia, March 19, 2022, as part of NATO's reinforcement of regional security, following Russia's invasion in Ukraine.

France sent troops from the 7th Battalion of Alpine Hunters, based in Grenoble, in response to Estonia's request for soldiers specialized in difficult terrain.

The Alpine Hunters are also specialized in urban, desert or tropical forest combat, and have served in Mali.

Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, NATO allies have sent additional ships, planes and troops to their territory in eastern and south-eastern Europe to shore up the alliance's deterrence and defense posture.
