Description:
Doc Watson (Arthel Lane Watson, b. 1923), blind since early life, rose to national acclaim during the folk revival of the 1960s. He became a major influence in acoustic music, including blues, old time, country, and bluegrass. His son Merle Watson (1946–1985) frequently performed with him until his death in a tractor accident.
