The project for a heavy anti-tank self-propelled gun was developed in the first half of the 1950s using components and assemblies from the Centurion Mk3. Initially, the self-propelled gun was tested with a mechanized ammunition rack. However, due to the fact that the ammunition rack did not fit within the dimensions of the turret, it was decided to abandon it. A single prototype was manufactured for testing purposes, but it was not produced in large quantities.
