Not gonna lie, I thought that there was actually a video on Selhurst that I recorded, but I guess it's shackled to another video on Norwood Junction.
Anyways, Selhurst is a pretty strange stations, just west of its own huge depot that stores a good chunk of the Southern trains, Class 171s and services that terminate at Selhurst included.
Saying that it has quite a history would be a bit of a understatement.
While the station started as a two-track endeavour in 1865, the line that it was and the other stations such as Norbury opened three years before the actual station was open and in 1903, it managed to get two extra for the fast services and nine years, it managed to electrified through to Norwood Junction.
Speaking of lines to Norwood Junction, the line got completely electrified in 1925 through to Victoria possibly using the overhead electrification system, but it now uses third rail and there's also the Selhurst Depot, which opened in the same decade thanks to the electrification.
Other than that, Selhurst hasn't been through many changes aside from the modernisation of the depot to feature these two words: Selhurst Depot, the new trains that come and go over the century and a half that it has been open for and the usual passenger information displays that are also changing.
There's a serious lack of Class 700s at this station, but the Class 387s make up for that loss.
At Norwood Junction, nothing much has changed except for some services being removed and added back in to improve reliability to the network that was previously really reliable, as there's still a lack of services to East Croydon at peak hours.
Either way, there's still a lot of trains in this video and they're all in this part of the description:
Class 377 appears at both stations and are also all Southern trains
Class 378 trains only appear at Norwood Junction and are all Overground trains
Class 387 trains only appear at Selhurst and they're all Gatwick Express trains.
Class 455 trains appears at both stations and are all Southern trains.
Class 700, finally, only appears at Norwood Junction and they're only Thameslink trains.
Well, that's it and there's definitely going to be more videos this month and who knows, there might be a video coming next week, so until then, just check my channel out!
