The readings for the Third Sunday of Lent (Year A), remind us that God comes to us in our moments of need, responding to our thirst—both physical and spiritual with the gift of life.”
In the first reading from Exodus, we find the Israelites in the desert, grumbling in their thirst. They question Moses, wondering if God is with them. In their parched state, they are reminded of their vulnerability and their need for God’s sustenance.
The Psalm echoes this plea, urging us to listen to God's voice and harden not our hearts. It calls us to recognize the living God who is always present, even in our moments of despair.
In Romans, St. Paul reassures us that through faith, we have peace with God. This faith is not built on strong human resolve, but rather on God's astonishing love for us, demonstrated through Christ, who died while we were still sinners. It reminds us that we are never alone in our struggles; God's grace exceeds our fears and failures.
The Gospel of John brings us to the well of Jacob, where Jesus meets the Samaritan woman. Here, we witness a transformative encounter. Jesus seeks her out, breaking social norms and offering her "living water"
