GR Corolla Go Fast Bits BOV Install - How to and sounds

1/4th ratchet
10mm socket
12mm socket
t30 torx bit
1/4 socket for 1/4th ratchet to hold torx bit
plastic clip remover or flathead screwdriver
philips screwdriver to remove screws
oil for o rings
magnet comes in handy
socket/torque wrench for wheels

GFB BOV torque spec is 4.4-6lbf-ft for the 3 bolts around the bov.


Methodology:
-Open hood, loosen passenger side wheel lug nuts
-Jack up car on that side or the entire front half of the car.
-Remove passenger wheel
-Remove clips on fender liner so that your window of access is a little bigger - do not need to fully remove.
-Remove two 12mms off turbo elbow - 1 nut and 1 bolt.
Loosen 10mm hose clamp on turbo elbow from top of engine near passenger side strut mount
Remove turbo elbow and slide out from the access hole in the fender.
(ensure the o-ring is not lost/dropped in bay).
now the elbow is out of the way, unplug oem connector on bpv, and use t30 torx bit held via 1/4th socket on 1/4th drive ratchet to loosen the 3 bolts holding the oem bpv unit.
Once complete, install the new unit using supplied hardware. GFB provides 3 5mm allen bolts - t30 torx fits but you may wanna use an allen bit to prevent possible strip.
Plug in the new bov - GFB provides a loom extender to tuck however you prefer.
Reinstall turbo elbow hose and ensure the o-ring is aligned properly. Optionally oil it for better seal and to prevent it falling.
reinstall fender liner by replacing the clips/screws that you removed.
tighten hose clamp on turbo elbow from the top.

Does this cause a CEL: Possibly, if you do not have aftermarket ECU as the BOV vents to atmosphere and the air is not recirculated like in the OEM setup.

The sound is perfect to me - it is not too loud in the cabin with the windows up. Over music, it sounds loud enough to hear but isn't distracting or annoying. Sort of gives off a psssh into a surge sound. With the windows down and near walls/other cars it sounds really nice/loud.

At low boost in parking lots its very subtle and not over the top at all.
