On Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., in the Media Gallery at Toronto Police Headquarters, Detective Sergeant Joyce Schertzer, of TPS Homicide updated the media on the investigation into Homicide #18/2017.
Background:
On Friday, April 22, 2017, at 9:30 p.m., police were called to the Dufferin Street and Bowie Avenue area for a sound of gunshots.
Emergency personnel arrived and found a man with apparent injuries. He was pronounced at the scene.
It is reported that:
the victim, who has been identified as Leonard Pinnock, 33, of Hamilton, was sitting in his car waiting for a friend
he was shot by an unknown person while still in his vehicle
several suspects were seen fleeing the area
Residents in the area of Caledonia Road to the west, Dufferin Street to the east, Eglinton Avenue to the south and Castlefield Avenue to the north are asked to check their backyards for any discarded items that do not belong to them, for example, keys, cell phones, or any item that might typically be carried in a pocket.
Further, anyone who might have home-security video or dash-cam video of the incident, or any suspects, is asked to contact police.
