Franck was the organist at the St Clotilde basilica in Paris, where he inaugurated Aristide Cavaillé-Coll‘s magnificent three-manual grand organ. Franck grew very attached to this particular organ - it inspired him to compose Six Pièces pour le Grand Orgue (1860-1862) which includes this work. This piano arrangement was made by the British pianist, Harold Bauer, former faculty of Manhattan School of Music. Recorded at Yamaha Artist Services in New York.
