Islay Night @ Celtic Connections 2016, Strathclycle Suite, GRCH
The night celebrated the life of Fraser Shaw who tragically lost his battle to MS in May 2015, and also the rich culture of Islay, from which he resided for most of his adult life. The concert consisted of a plethora of talented musicians and singers local to Islay and also, "The Islay Sessioners" playing Fraser's compositions.
This is part of a project in which a book of all of Fraser's tunes will be released, along with an album of his music. The project is organised by the Fraser Shaw Trust (www.frasershawtrust.com).
Islay Night was to be the official launch of the trust, which aims to raise money for MS charities through a range of projects celebrating Fraser and his music, including festivals, concerts, and of course, this tune book project.
