Описание:
Vampire bats have special heat sensors on their nose that let them detect where warm blood is flowing closest to the skin of their prey.
They primarily feeds on the blood of large mammals such as cows, pigs, and horses. They must consume blood at least every two days to survive, making them obligate sanguivores.
Unlike the mythological vampires, vampire bats do not suck blood. Instead, they make a small incision in their prey's skin with their sharp teeth and lap up the flowing blood with their tongue. This process is often painless for the host animal, allowing the bat to feed for up to 30 minutes without waking it.
The coolest part?
Their heat-sensing ability helps them find food even in total darkness — it’s like having built-in night vision and a blood detector all in one!
That sound spooky!!
