2. TROUT on LURES - Wales, UK! New Water [PERSONAL BEST]

I've been meaning to fish this section of my local river for a long time! After trawling Google Maps to find a suitable entry point and place to leave my car, I dropped a pin on a likely spot and set off.

Parking at the bottom of a housing estate, I donned the waders and the rest of my equipment and began the short walk downstream to the access point I had in mind. Ten minutes of walking, head height ferns and a precarious descent later, I was at the river side.

The first sight to greet me was a delicious looking run along a large wall. It looked like Trout perfection, and I was more than happy that I'd taken the time and effort to scout this place out.

The session started off slowly, with just one fish showing in the first half an hour, and a beautiful little Trout to the bank shortly after, although that was all overshadowed when I came to a very short, yet Trouty looking pool with rapids at the top and bottom.

The first cast was poor and resulted in no interest, but the second was a different story, being decimated after a few turns of the handle. I immediately knew it was a good fish and the sight of it leaving the water confirmed the fact! As you'll see in the video, it's a great fight and one I'll remember for a long time! 🚀

After measuring and photographing that personal best I moved on to the next pool. It was here that a Trout, which dwarfed the fish I'd just caught, followed the lure and turned as it saw me. This sets the tone of the rest of the session, with the final hour being fishless and full of regret 😂

This style of fishing leads you into the most serene of places, and I feel incredibly lucky to have a water of this quality and beauty on my doorstep.
