A continuation of peaking into my hives after only using 2 rounds of oxalic acid. After the 2nd round I noticed that all of my brood was burnt and the queen had stopped laying all together. This is something I have observed after using a formic acid treatment but NEVER after using oxalic acid. To my surprise oxalic acid decomposes into formic acid at 375 degrees F. I have my vaporizing gun set to 445 degrees F, as suggested. by the manufacturer. This is what makes beekeeping so interesting! There is always something new to learn!! So here's to hoping their varroa levels are in check as we are into August now and the bees are preparing for winter!
