Become a Martian geologist and unlock the mineral secrets of the Red Planet with our interactive "Mars Mineral Exploration" installation! This exhibit is a STEM education platform at the Science Museum that integrates planetary geology and IoT technology. Using NFC-enabled smart mineral samples and a multimodal identification and analysis system, it realistically simulates the on-site mineral identification process during Mars exploration. When visitors place a Martian mineral sample embedded with an NFC chip on the identification platform, the system automatically reads the mineral's characteristic data. The screen simultaneously displays a high-resolution microscopic image of the mineral, its chemical composition spectrum, formation geological environment, and potential resource value, and instantly generates a personalized paper test card, presenting a complete chain of space geological work from sample collection to scientific analysis.
This installation serves as an immersive exploration vehicle for the Science Museum's planetary science STEM education, deeply integrating mineralogy, planetary chemistry, and smart sensing technology. Visitors can not only understand the geological evolution history of Mars by comparing different mineral samples (such as hematite, olivine, and hydrated sulfates), but also attempt to infer evidence of ancient Martian water environments based on mineral assemblages in the Science Museum's unique "Mars Resource Explorer" challenge. The system will generate a geological report based on the probe data, revealing the crucial role of the mineral record in reconstructing planetary history.
This exhibit is specifically designed for the Science Museum's Planetary Science Exhibition Area, Geological Technology Education Hall, and STEM Education Smart Exploration Lab. Through a three-step operation path of "sample placement - data reading - report generation," it aims to stimulate young people's interest in planetary geology, mineral resources, and space exploration technology, and cultivate scientific exploration thinking based on data-driven and evidence-based reasoning.
