EU Signals MAJOR Defence Shift at Munich Conference

Ursula von Der Leyen has spoke in Munich and the Security Conference and she has suggested that Europe should realise the possibility of a dual-use industry. She has suggested that the commercial side of the industry could also be used to produce defence components. Marta Kos has argued that according to the current methodology used in the EU accession process, it’s not possible for Ukraine to join the EU by 1st of January 2027. She has then stressed that a solution must be found, as the EU cannot wait anymore. Mark Rutte has criticised Vladimir Putin’s decision to appoint Vladimir Medinsky to lead the Russian delegation in talks with Ukraine in Geneva. Zelensky has also stated that Ukraine needs security guarantees from the US for more than 15 years.
