The purpose of this video is to exhibit the effects of cooking rounds in a 6PPC rifle. The same procedure as the first round cooking test was used:
1. Shoot foulers;
2. Shoot a quick baseline 5-shot group;
3. Heat the barrel to 95 degrees (shooting rounds into the fouler part of the target);
4. Shoot a quick 5-shot in the 95 degree condition;
5. Heat the barrel to 113 degrees (more rounds into the fouler target);
6. Shoot 5 rounds after the round is cooked in the chamber for 30 seconds;
7. Heat to 122 degrees; and
8. Shoot 5 rounds after the round is cooked in the chamber for 30 seconds.
The results show an average velocity increase and larger group sizes after cooking the round relative to the baseline group.
Measured Group Sizes:
Baseline Group (shot fast right after fouling) = .212
Heated to 95 Degrees and Shot Fast = .240
Cooked Rounds in 113 Degrees = .530
Cooked Rounds in 122 Degrees = .315
