Description found in the book 'The Marvelous World of Music Machines' (1976) and insert of the record (1974):
"Sainte-Croix (Switzerland), 1895. The rosewood case measures 62 x 33 x 26cm and is decorated with inlay on the lid (flowers) and cross-banding and stinging on lid and front.
The spring motor is crank-wound from the outside and is fitted with a safety device. There is a simple fan governor.
The musical movement consists of a comb with 66 teeth, 6 bells, and a skin drum with 8 drumsticks. It is played by a pinned cylinder (300mm long, 61,2mm diameter) carrying 8 forty-five-second compositions by Verdi, Suppé, Waldteufel and others, as listed on the instrument."
I do not own the music or the images shown in this video. All credit goes the original creators. My only intention is to share the beauty of these instruments and the wonderful music they create.
