On 11/22/2025, I arrested Cevonte Jackson for 3rd degree escape, 2 counts of felony theft of property, possession of a schedule VI substance, and 2nd degree criminal mischief. I observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Hogan Ln. and then on McNutt Rd. The vehicle crossed the yellow center line, and I initiated a traffic stop. I made contact with the driver, Judith Harris, and advised her of the reason for the stop. The passenger appeared nervous and was hesitant to identify himself. He advised that he may have a child support warrant out of Benton. He then identified himself as Cevonte Jackson. I instructed
him and Harris to exit the vehicle. Due to Jackson’s nervous demeanor and admission of possible wanted status, I detained him in handcuffs.
Jackson showed to have felony theft of property warrants out of Conway PD. Harris showed to have a misdemeanor traffic warrant out of Faulkner County. I approached Jackson again and informed him that he had felony warrants. I advised him that I would allow him to finish his cigar before I placed him in my patrol unit and transported him on the warrant. I searched Jackson incident to arrest, during which search he was abnormally mobile and continued to appear nervous. I detected a faint odor of marijuana from Jackson’s person, but I did not locate any contraband at this time. I completed the search and began to speak to Harris.
Jackson then took off running southbound on Kennedy Ln. before turning southbound into Forest Lake Estates. I remained with Harris and the vehicle while Ofc. Riddle pursued Jackson.
I detained Harris and placed her in my patrol unit. I observed Ofc. Riddle’s flashlight farther down Kennedy Ln. and ran to assist. I arrived at his position, where Ofc. Riddle already had Jackson controlled on the ground. During the foot pursuit, Ofc. Riddle's uniform was damaged. I searched Jackson again and advised him that he would receive an additional charge if corrections officers located contraband on his person at the jail. Jackson advised that he had something under
his foot. Officers located a very small pouch of marijuana in Jackson’s boot. I released Harris from custody and issued her a traffic warning, releasing her from the scene. I picked up Jackson’s warrants, which were confirmed, and transported him to Unit 2. Jackson was booked in on the stated charges, including the escape charge, as he was in custody at the time of his flight. I served him with both of his warrants and provided him with copies.
