Suppose you have a list of files in your excel workbook and you need to copy the extension to another column. Now this is what I am going to do. I will use excel formula to get files extension in excel. Let me show you how to do it.

Step 1: First open the workbook you are working on

Step 2: Click on the next empty cell where you want the extension and paste this formula

=RIGHT(A2,LEN(A2)-FIND("|",SUBSTITUTE(A2,".","|",LEN(A2)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A2,".","")))))

Step 3: Now press enter and drag the formula as long as you need.

Simple and this is how you copy the extension name into the next
cell in Excel.
