"ETRUSCANS AND METALLURGY"
The project, accomplished in the school year 2012/13, involved two classes, 3rd B and 4th B of Liceo Artistico "L. Bianciardi", Sculpture department, of Grosseto.
MAIN CONTENTS OF THE PROJECT:
-The Etruscan Art and the development of Metallurgy in Etruria
-The historical and geographic context of metallurgic factories in Etruria
-The iron minerals in the geographic area of "Etruria Mineraria"
-The history of artistic iron work from the origins to contemporary art
-Technology used in the Reduction process of Hemathite ( mineral-broom-iron)

The video " Building of a furnace for the reduction of hemathite from Elba" was produced during the final part of the project and focused on the experimental building of a furnace in the school garden.
The short film summarizes all the operational steps followed by the students, from the collection of the mineral, to the making of an iron ingot.
