Blankets Of Hope Have Been Assembled by the public.

Defenders For Children (501c3) believes as a community, we all need to learn to identify the signs of child abuse. We must support projects which are designed to stop the abuse before it happens, raise community awareness and promote widespread involvement to keep "our children" safe so they can become positive influences on society.
Currently estimates: 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 6 boys born in America this year are at risk of being sexually abused before turning 18 years old. Every day 5 children die as the results of abuse and neglect. In America, over 3,300,000 cases of child abuse are filed each year involving over 6,000,000 children. (ref.Childhelp.org)
We are witnessing a "Perfect Storm" with our children caught in the middle. This storm rages not only locally, nationally, but also internationally. As the saying goes, "someone needs to do something about it," and Defenders For Children (DFC) wants to be at the forefront of this brutal war against children. DFC is comprised of volunteers who want to make a drastic difference in the lives of these children and show them that abuse is NOT acceptable.

DFC's "Blankets For Hope" project needs over 800 No-Sew Blankets so they can be given to each child that has been removed from their home due to abuse and/or neglect. These children as scared and usually are removed with only the clothes they are wearing at the time DSS removes them from their home. When the volunteer Guardian Ad-Litem visits with the child, they are given the gift of one of the DFC "Blankets For Hope" for a sense of security. Each blanket is hand-made by volunteers and embroidered with a Heart and the quote "You Are Loved & You Are Treasured."
