Spanish - “Por” & “Para” Explained In 6 And A Half Minutes

Описание: In this video, I’m explaining the prepositions “por” and “para” in Spanish. While the two literally mean “by/through” and “for,” they sometimes change their meaning completely in Spanish, depending on the context that they’re in. Both of the prepositions apply to movement, time, and action, with “por” speaking of circumstances that happened in the past and “para” indicating events that are going to happen in the future. “Por” can speak of a general motion, the duration of an action, and a reason for an action, while including usages like an object of a search, an exchange, units of measurement, and idiomatic expressions. “Para” contrarily applies to destinations, deadlines, and purposes, along with recipients of something, comparisons, and employment. In the video, I explain each category thoroughly while providing useful examples on the way.
