🧠 Data Prep Best Practices (Excel + Data Quality)

Data profiling before import (duplicates, inconsistent values, normalization)
Excel tools used:
VLOOKUP to map names → IDs (e.g., Owner Name → OwnerId)
Pivot Tables for profiling (e.g., “CA” vs “California”, “SF” vs “San Francisco”)
Picklist governance:
Restricted picklists block invalid values during import
Multi-picklist values stored/imported as semicolon-separated

Import rules:
Checkbox: 1 = checked, 0 = unchecked
Formula fields: cannot import (calculated)
Validation rules: in effect unless you use controlled bypass patterns (e.g., settings/permissions for integration users)

🆔 Salesforce IDs (15 vs 18 Characters)
15-char: case-sensitive
18-char: case-insensitive (safer for integrations)

👤 Ownership During Import
Owner affects sharing/visibility
Import Wizard can map using Owner Name
Data Loader typically requires OwnerId (lookup → User ID)
