This talk is about the history of a successful UK computer company - RM plc.
The talk will describe the development of the original Research Machines of 1973, through to the development of proprietary computers for education, and then onto conversion to becoming a provider of IBM compatible computer systems for the education market.
The RM-380Z was their first model, and was based around the Z80A processor. It was designed specifically for the education market.
Now as RM plc, the company is one of the leading providers of all aspects of information services to education in the UK and, increasingly internationally. It supplies computers, networks, internet services and other aspects of IT that support the 21st century school.
The RM story is a UK success story.

John Leighfield is chairman of RM plc, and is a former president of the BCS.
