Monster Sanctuary Speedrun Any% (

Some of my thoughts on the run:

Et tu, Brute?
New glitch, new route! Speedrunner and glitch hunter Brormanis found these new glitches with the Summon Big Rock ability. And the earliest place where we can get that ability is from Brutus. The glitch lets us skip lowering the lava (45:47), allows us to back door Horizon Beach (55:12) and Ancient Woods (50:04) and some other minor time saves.

Also, I finally switched to Casual difficulty. This allows me to beat the game with lower gear and just with Magmamoth (instead of Magmapillar + Magmamoth). Now the Madlord fight is even trickier and he can end a run with ease by focusing Elderjel.

This run is more like proof of concept of the new route. I made a lot of mistakes and I'll refine the route to lower the time.



Here are the timestamps and short explanations for the glitches:
0:37 Infinite jumps glitch. Load another save and jump/pause as soon as possible when you load the save back.
3:54 Door clipping. Standing next to some doors while loading in and jumping, you fall through the ground. There is little room below, so you need to time your flight well.
7:04 2x Game speed. Set battle animation speed to 2x, use a smoke bomb, switch monsters and use any move with a battle animation. Needs to be timed well to make it work. (This speed stays until you engage in combat again or hard reset the game.)
10:33 Turn glitch. If you switch a monster with your last action every turn, the turn does not count in the score screen. You'll have to use all of your monsters on the last turn or the glitch doesn't work.
45:47 Big rock glitch. Summon a big rock while running uphill and you can get glitched into the ground or the ceiling. Then you can fly under doors (45:47 55:12), get out of bounds (46:52) or use the default spawn location to your advantage (50:04 1:22:53) .
1:01:32 Trigger skipping. Stand near the trigger location and save&exit and reload the game while running. Usually works better with 2x game speed glitch.
47:31 & 48:23 are special cases of the trigger skip. Can't quite pass Asura, so instead I just skip the first trigger on the right side so that I get to fight on the left side. Then I just lose the fight quickly. To get back to the right side the trigger skip works, but only if I hard reset the game on the right pixel.
