The 3rd Regional Advisory Committee for Health Emergencies (RAC) Meeting took place in Lusaka, Zambia, co-hosted with ECSA Health Community and IGAD.
The 3rd RAC meeting brought together regional public-health experts, government officials, and partners to review Africa’s evolving health-emergency landscape and reinforce preparedness across Member States. Participants examined emerging threats, assessed country capacities, and highlighted critical gaps in surveillance, rapid response, and coordination.
The committee underscored the need to strengthen early-warning systems, expand laboratory networks, bolster workforce readiness, and improve cross-border collaboration. Key recommendations included accelerating the implementation of regional preparedness frameworks, securing sustainable financing for emergency management, and deepening partnerships to enhance resilience against future outbreaks.
