As the 900 Soldiers of the 10th Battalion Combat Team took their position near Yultong, the Chinese were preparing to launch their spring offensive. With upwards of 5,000 Chinese troops assaulting their positions, the Filipino Soldiers held through the night. Heavily outnumbered, with their adjacent units faltering, they beat back the enemy in combat that often was hand-to-hand.
By the next day, at a cost of 12 Filipino Soldiers the line had held. Scattered across the battlefield was over 500 enemy dead.
