Here's a longer practice session (cut from an even longer movie). Obviously I left all the mistakes in it, since that's what this is all about. Note the rest intervals. It's pretty obvious that my tone improves even after a short rest (a few seconds).
Playing fast is not about exertion but rather about relaxation. I hope to one day be able to truly play all of the stuff that just happens in my head. This song is excellent practice (I recommend it over more advanced changes) primarily because of the demands placed on your melodic ability. We have to draw on the legitimate history of playing rhythm changes and keep the flavor of it.
