STORYLINE:
Hollywood stars Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good obtained Guinean citizenship on Friday during a ceremony presided over by close associates of Guinean President General Mamadi Doumbouya.

Both actors, who are married, traced their Guinean origins through DNA testing and were granted Guinean citizens and diplomatic passports from senior officials of the Guinean government.

"From now on, you will represent our country and its red, gold and green flag all over the world," Djiba Diakité, chief of staff to the president of Guinea, said as he handed over passports to the couple.

"It’s good to be home," Good said in a speech thanking officials for their welcome.

While Majors spoke at length about his experience in Hollywood and the entertainment world, he also promised to help Guinea using his area of expertise.

Majors seemed destined for the ranks of Hollywood's A-list before he was arrested in 2023.

He had won critical accolades for his work in "Da 5 Bloods" and "Lovecraft Country" and secured years of future Marvel stardom with his role as Kang the Conqueror.

After his conviction on assault and harassment charges, Marvel dropped him from future projects and "Magazine Dreams," a film once tipped to bring him an Oscar nomination, went on ice until last year.

Good, an actor herself, began dating Majors in 2023 and was a constant presence at his trial in New York.

They were engaged in 2024 and wed last year in a small, impromptu ceremony as he promoted "Magazine Dreams."

According to a press release from the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, who organized their stay in Guinea, Good and Majors will visit slave sites in the Boké region on a specially arranged tour before leaving Guinea.

It was in this part of maritime Guinea that all the slaves captured along the coast of Guinea were shipped to America to be deported to the sugar cane plantations in the Americas.
