A quick n' dirty demo of my Memorymoog clone build. First full through-hole build after Luis Marka's prototype. This video samples some of the factory presets provided by the Moog Music company when the original units were in production (1982 - 1985).
With over 3,900 components hand soldered, this is certainly the largest project I have ever taken on. It is nearly 1:1 to an original with negligible differences.
Nearly every component used here is new-stock inventory - with the exception of the 8-digit display. While the digital board was recreated for use of a 27C32 EPROM instead of the 2532, I've opted to use my own EEPROM adapter so I may easily program the ROMs with the v2.4 firmware using a simple Arduino Mega based EEPROM programmer. I've also replaced the 6116 VRAM chips with my own FRAM adapters - meaning I did not need a battery to retain presets on power down.
This project would not at all be possible without the reproduction efforts from Alfa RPAR who make alternatives for the discontinued chips - AS3340 (OSC) , AS3310 (ENV), AS3360 (VCA) and AS3080 (OTA) all used here.
But of course, this project would not exist without Luis Marka's generous contributions, providing his documents as open-source to the DIY music electronics community.
