Suspect Crashes SUV at High Speeds in West Covina After Fleeing CHP Traffic Stop

Описание: WEST COVINA, Calif., Mar. 4, 2026 (KNN) – A pursuit suspect driving an SUV fled from California Highway Patrol officers and crashed in West Covina in the early morning hours of Tuesday.

CHP officers from the Baldwin Park Area office initiated a traffic stop on an SUV, but the suspect fled the scene. A high-speed pursuit ensued on the westbound 10 Freeway, beginning at Fairplex Drive in Pomona.

The suspect exited the freeway at Azusa Avenue in West Covina, prompting the California Highway Patrol to cancel the chase due to the high speeds on surface streets.

Shortly thereafter, West Covina police received a 911 call regarding a traffic collision involving a vehicle matching the description of the one in the earlier pursuit. The crash occurred at Azusa Avenue, just south of the 10 Freeway. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Authorities have not yet determined why the suspect fled from the traffic stop or how many vehicles were struck when the suspect crashed into a bus stop sign.
