And for a split second he let himself believe it's HER wanting him back. For a split second he gave in. Let his heart take over, until his brain interfered and he realized it's not her. And then we can see how his feelings for her are driving him mad as he angrily pulls away. "I am not insane." No, but insanely in love with the woman who that face actually belongs to. Every person half awake could see that. He can try and lie to himself and others as much as he wants - his face doesn't lie.
