Complaints from a carrier storm manager who is overseeing a team of IAs:
Not returning phone calls promptly, even just to say I'm working on it
Not setting expectations and explain the process, especially ACV/RCV
Being rude to the customers that are paying your salary
When you know there's going to be a blow up, call the agent first and then call your supervisor BEFORE the customer calls them
I had a complaint today where adjuster was asking for receipts or pictures of an ice chest $90, patio furniture $500, grill $430. Loss location was in the middle of the eye of the hurricane. I asked him of he could provide me the same if a tornado blew his stuff away right now.
He said no.
I said put it on the contents inventory form, depreciate it and pay it. Grrrr.....I know people take advantage of these situations but the personal property claim was $1500.
In other words, don't nitpick claims. Just do what makes sense. We spend more money arguing over a minor issue than it would take to pay the claim.
JUST PAY IT AND MOVE ON.
