Red Rock Roads | Kagga Kamma to Carnarvon | Episode 7 West Coast Road Trip

Описание: For our first overnight back from Paternoster, we spent it sleeping inside one of the rock suites at the Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve. We enjoyed breakfast out on the patio, had a little walk around, packed up and then headed back on our journey.

We had to stop at Die Padstaal at Tankwa to check out the place, and say hi to the aliens. Oh, and to see the crashed UFO. Gotta be a tourist.
In Sutherland, we headed for lunch at Die Boorgat, and even though I didn’t eat, the place was really cool. Filled with vintage treasures and what other’s may consider “old junk”, I only saw beautiful relics, including some really special old journals with magnificent flourishes which further piqued my fascination with ephemera. Our travel buddies picked up a nasty scrape in the sidewall of their tyre, so the guys changed it.

Our drive took us along dusty, crusty roads, where we traveled along a lot of the routes starting with R35 including the R355, 356, 354 and the R353 (which is the longest dirt road in all of South Africa).

Along our route, cyclists driving up the crusty, dusty road make for some car-conversation until another tyre incident, our forth on this trip, caused us to stop on the side of the road. One of the cyclists even offered to help us.

We head towards Fraserburg, pass a small bit of Loxton (which we were going to drive through, but decided to stay on the dusty, crusty dirt roads until we reach our next accommodation, back in the Northern Cape Town of Carnavorn (which we drove though going towards Paternoster), and spend the night at the Lord Carnavorn Small Hotel.
