🧶 What makes it special?
This method adds a natural curve to the neckline, avoiding that awkward high-front shape!
I’ll also walk you through how to work raglan increases with GSR, and the crucial timing of shaping and increasing.
📌 Yarn & Materials:
Yarn: Summer Nights 7oz/200g, 875yd/800m (2 colors, W thread)
Needles: 3.5 mm
Gauge: 4” x 4” = 25 sts x 36 rows
Neck Width: 15”
Cast On: 97 sts (multiple of 12 + 1)
🧮 GSR Math Tip:
My short rows were calculated at 3 sts per row to cover 80 stitches over 26 rows.
✂️ Watch out for:
Timing your German short rows and raglan increases properly, especially when they land on the same row!
⛓️ Sections include:
Neck shaping
GSR breakdown
Raglan increase in flat and in-the-round
Sleeve separation
Body shaping

Fold inward, pick up bottom stitch, and K2TOG
Prep: Purl 1 around & Knit 1 round
[GSR MATH]
TARGET HEIGHT: 3” = 26 ~ 28 Rows MUST be an even #
TARGET STS COUNT: 80 STS except 16 STS at front
GSR #: TARGET STS COUNT / TARGET ROWS
MINE: 80 / 26 = 3 STS

GR3(RS): YFSL1P, TUG THE YARN TO CREATE W ST, (PM2), YB, K UNTIL BEG M, K UNTIL (RM1), GK2TOG, K3, TURN
GR4(WS): YFSL1P, TUG THE YARN TO CREATE W ST, (PM1), YF, P UNTIL M2, (RM2), GP2TOG, P3, TURN
REP GR3 & GR4 UNTIL your desire row count
When you did last GK2TOG, keep knitting until BEG M
[INCREASING AT RAGLAN Ms in ROUND without GSR]
IR1(RS): K UNTIL LAST 1 ST BEFORE M, M1R, K1, SM, K1, M1L – REPEAT AT EVERY MAKRES
IR2(WS): ALL KNIT
REPEAT IR1 & IR2 UNTIL YOUR DESIRE LENGTH, the bottom of Raglan line must be met at the armpit.
I repeated 22 times, total of 44 rows – the raglan line is 7.5” from the bottom of neck.
Count Front & Back PS – for me, 82 STS + 86 STS = total of 168 – which is about 35”
Under Armpit as new casts – 1.5” which is 8 STS
Total STS count is 168 + 16 = 184 which is about 38.5”
[SEPARATE SLEEVES FROM THE BODY]
Knit until 1st marker, transfer all sleeve STS onto the scrap yarn, add new casts (8 STS for me), knit until 3rd marker, transfer all sleeve STS onto the scrap yarn, add new casts (8 STS for me), knit until BEG marker.
[BODY]
Knit until your desire length
