BNSF and DGNO action on the TRE line - 2/18/18 // Trinity Rail Productions

Описание: Amtrak and TRE trains might be the staple of the Trinity Railway Express mainline between Dallas and Fort Worth, TX, but this video will show that there's still a lot to see even when passenger trains aren't running.

BNSF freight trains coming onto and off of the Madill Subdivison take the TRE to or from Dallas or Fort Worth. Genesee & Wyoming shortline Dallas, Garland, & Northeastern operates locals and transfers along the line, working mostly out of the railroad's Mockingbird Yard located roughly at MP 638.5 on the TRE.

On a cloudy Sunday afternoon, I headed to the Norwood Rd. grade crossing at the west end of Mockingbird to see if anything was going on. As soon as I got there, a pair of DGNO gensets came into view. The crew had been sent out to retrieve a few cars, so they wasted no time in pulling through the crossing, throwing a switch, and backing down the yard lead.

A few minutes later, an eastbound BNSF manifest freight arrived on the scene, sporting a Fakebonnet Dash 9 in the trailing position. The train had to stop because a westbound DGNO freight that was entering the yard at the east end was occupying the single track bridge over 35E. Meanwhile, the DGNO crew from earlier had located the cars they needed, so they headed west out of the yard. A few minutes later, the second DGNO train had pulled into the yard and dropped its cars. The motive power, SD40M-2s #3416 and #3419, pulled through the crossing, reversed direction, and headed to the yard office to tie up.

That concludes about 45 minutes of railfanning on the TRE line - and I didn't even see a single passenger train. Even on Sundays when the TRE isn't running, there's still plenty of action to watch!
