2023-24 Mustangs Purple Blanket Profiles: Alyssa Evans

Описание: Being a student-athlete is no easy task, being a dual sport student-athlete is even harder but Alyssa Evans has done it with exceptional commitment and dedication.

Evans has been a key contributor to the Figure Skating team & Field Hockey team in her time as a Mustang.

In figure skating, she came to Western as a very accomplished competitive skater with experience at many levels. She was willing to adapt to whatever was needed and was eager to do it. She came to the team as a 'free skater' but ended up in dance and synchro events where she had significant results and helped our team succeed. She was part of the back-to-back OUA Championship seasons for the Mustangs in 2023 & 2024.

Her coaches were always impressed with her time management and organizational skills which were key to her success, always keeping communication open, she was able to make the best of practices for both teams.

She converted from player to goalie three years ago with the Field Hockey team as the team needed someone to play the vital position. While this transition is extremely lofty at a varsity level, Alyssa relied on great footwork and ability to make the first save and helped with organization within the team's defensive structure.

Alyssa was heavily involved in the wider Western community as the President of Mustangs Care, and a co-chair of the Ivey Sports Leadership Conference. Add to this she is also the Co-President of Field Hockey New Brunswick, with New Brunswick just starting a provincial program, Alyssa has spearheaded many of the new beginnings in her home area.
