Ghatshwar shiv temple architecture seems like a Nagara Temple Architecture, but it does have only Shikhara above Garbhgriha, it does not have any mandapas. The architecture of Shikhara is also from Himalayn northern India where temple Shikhara has a sharp slope so that in case of heavy snowfall the snow won't remain on the Shikhara, this type of temple Shikharas can be seen in North India. Ghatshwar shiv temple is in this term a unique and one of a kind temple in Maharashtra.

It is located near Pune. From Pune it is around 60 kms and from Mumbai it is around 140 kms. It can be accessed via private vehicles. There is a huge parking area available outside of the temple premise. It is situated right on the banks of Thokarwadi Dam backwaters. The temple is surrounded by dense trees but in a limited area which is also unique. The backwaters can be accessed from a short path which is in front of the temple. The temple area is very calm and soothing. Many people come here for experiencing peace.
