When I first started fishing a Deps Sakamata Shad back in 2020 it was on an EWG hook in grass. The high weight of the plastic makes it really great as a jerkbait. Today, we're all using them much differently.
The technique of "hanging a minna" is the US adaptation of the hover strolling technique made popular in Japan. In Japan, hover strolling is done with a small 90 deg jig hook and a nail weight. In the US, we've adapted that technique to using a tungsten jighead on a 90 deg hook.
The US adaptation of this fishing style opens the door for certain types of gear to shine. The way fish eat a "hanging minnow" style presentation seems to be an extra light bite and the Poison Ultima is the perfect tool for such a situation. With the Carbon Shell Grip on the rod being hollow, the bite sensation is actually amplified as it transmits from the rod and into the angler's hand.
Pair that with the highest level of rod blank construction that is gained from Spiral-X Core and Hi-Power X technologies and you have the perfect tool for getting a hook into fish effectively to allow to you gain the upper hand on them immediately.
The Jackall Shimano collaboration has resulted in the pinnacle of forward facing sonar rods. Now, you just gotta go out there and find them and get em to bite!!
THANKS FOR TUNING IN!!!!
