A question that occurred to most owners of the bootleg variously released as “Music for Fans, Volume 2” and “Dali’s Car” was: why did the bootlegger record only two songs by 801 at the Reading Festival on 28th August 1976? In 2009 an answer appeared in the form of this longer audience recording of the band’s performance – the bootlegger did in fact capture the full set. The links from where the University’s researcher downloaded the bootleg are now dead. Coincidence, or evidence of a dark conspiracy at the heart of 1970s rock music? Or alternatively more evidence that just because something has appeared on the Internet, it needn’t actually stay there forever... although it may crop up again from time to time. The University of Ambience hosts it as a historic document whose wandering sound quality means that it would be unlikely to see a proper release, and encourages you to buy the 801 Live Collectors Edition of the Queen Elizabeth Hall performance here: https://www.burningshed.com/store/phi...
