This follows up on the previous. Rego sensei continues to build and lightly demonstrate the essential principles of self-defense from the bottom position (do-osae or guard)—through the combat lens (jissen) that is at the art of our Japanese system of jujutsu — Jukido Jujutsu. Rather than chasing flashy moves, the focus here is on angles, mobility, and situational awareness—specifically tracking the attacker's head, hips, and hands to control the fight and prevent catastrophic damage.
The demonstration emphasizes practical responses rooted in combative realism, not sport application. This is about surviving, creating/controlling space, and intelligently using positioning to either escape, reverse, or counter when it matters most.
These concepts are foundational for applying jujutsu's groundwork as it was meant to be used—in true self-defense scenarios.
Recorded during the April 2025 Black Belt class at the Jukido Jujitsu Academy in Palm Coast / Flagler County Florida.
