On June 14, 2025, at approximately 2:50 a.m., Police Officers Trevor Thomas, David Chicara, Zackary Guido, and Ronald Kibitlewski responded to the area of Second and Bloomfield Streets on reports of a motor vehicle crash. An on-scene investigation revealed a driver, later identified as a 27-year-old male of Paramus, hit a parked vehicle as he turned onto Bloomfield Street, injuring the driver sitting inside. The impact caused the second vehicle to strike another, causing a chain reaction that ultimately damaged four parked cars in total. He fled the scene of the accident, but within minutes, Police Officer Michael Aviles observed a vehicle that matched the description provided by the caller, that had front-end damage consistent with the earlier crash. He was pulled over, and his speech was observed to be slurred. A field sobriety test was conducted, after which it was determined that he was unable to operate a motor vehicle safely, and he was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with assault by auto. He was issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to report an accident, and leaving the scene of an accident. As per John’s Law, he was ultimately released into the custody of a responsible party.
These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
