How hearing loss could be impacting your relationships | Nashlea Brogan | TEDxBostonCollege

Описание: We need to move beyond the misconception that communication issues in relationships are solely due to what is being said and start recognizing that hearing loss--often undetected and untreated--might play a significant role. Regular hearing tests and early intervention for hearing loss should be prioritized to preserve cognitive health, social connectedness, emotional well-being, and intimacy. Dr. Nashlea Brogan, is an experienced audiologist and passionate advocate for those with hearing loss. She founded Bluewater Hearing & Balance 20 years ago, and is a founding member of the Excellence in Audiology Network, extending its reach to hearing practices across North America and South Africa. She is also a clinical preceptor for Western University's graduate Audiology program.

Dr. Brogan is deeply committed to educating professionals on patient-centered care, emphasizing empathy and understanding in audiological practice. As a Cochlear Implant (CI) user with late-onset progressive hearing loss, she understands the challenges faced by those with hearing loss, informing her compassionate, long-term care approach. She is actively engaged in advocacy to raise awareness about the broader impact of hearing loss.

Outside of work, she enjoys family life, skiing, strength training, mountain biking, and exploring new destinations. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
