OET Speaking Role Play Sample Video for Nurses demonstrates OET speaking role play on Laparoscopy. The setting of this OET speaking role play is a hospital ward. A 28-year-old patient just had Laparoscopic day surgery for cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) under general anesthetic. The nurse is visiting the patient to check on his/her progress. The nurse first introduced the patient and told the purpose of the visit. When the nurse asks how the patient is doing, the patient replies as feeling tired and feels the stomach is quite sore. And also feeling sick. The nurse then asks for the details of the pain. But the patient says no change in pain so far. The nurse then explains the aftereffects of surgery on the digestive system. However, the nurse encourages the patient to drink and eat which will make the patient’s condition better. Also, the patient has to know when the stitches will be taken. The nurse then explains that the stitches are dissolvable stitches and disappear within two weeks. The nurse also explains postoperative care to the patient.
