'The world was thrust into perpetual darkness, but when the stars shone down, the Children of the ONE awoke with starlight in their eyes, and something of that light remained there forever after.'

The elves are the first born creation of Illuvatar. Tolkien writes that, after the world was plunged into darkness by the evil Melchor. The elves are awoken by the light of the stars.

Compositional notes:
This song is predominantly based on a piano idea by Mark Swift. I played and recorded the first five notes on piano. Mark created the full piano motif and I then developed and structured that into a full piece. The notes in the introduction have a Thomas Newman vibe to them. I love that from the seeds of just 5 notes a beautiful composition can grow.
