Описание: GM Oleksandr Bortnyk playing duck chess for the first time!
The duck is a brick - pieces cannot move through the square occupied by the duck. However, knights can jump over the duck. Each player’s turn has 2 steps: After moving a piece, the duck must be moved to a different and empty square. There is no check or checkmate. Capture the opponent’s king to win. (Invented by Dr Tim Paulden.)
Stalemate only occurs when there are no legal moves left (note that walking into “check” is legal). The stalemated player wins.

Oleksandr Bortnyk is a Ukrainian grandmaster who earned that title in 2015 at the age of 19. He was the 2014 World Youth Champion in the under-18 group. Bortnyk is an incredibly talented speed chess player and reached the 2019 Bullet Chess Championship finals against GM Hikaru Nakamura. His Chess.com bullet rating reached 3000 in September 2020 and peaked at 3340 in December of that year.
