Blackcat JB-2000 Linear AmplifierToroid Transformer Challenge Accepted

Описание: I'm doing Facebook less and less. Too many know-it-alls. There was a guy on a Facebook on a Linear Amplifier site that asked the question, anybody know of anyone or place that has a transformer for a Wawasee Electronics Blackcat JB-2000 for sale? I waited a few days to see if anyone else would help him, and of course not. Nobody chimed in. So, I threw in my 2 cents. I said basically a Blackcat JB-2000 is basically a clone, but CBertiized, version of the Heathkit SB-220. Transformers for the 220 are scarce, but can be found, but I have had great luck using Toroid's and this Toroid, sent him a link, would work very well. The Facebook Know-It-All then sent me a PM, Personal Message, back. BTW, why do they do that, ask a public question, then send a PM when you answer them? Anyway, he in the PM, "Well, I talked to my Tech and my Tech says that won't work." I asked, why not? He said, well my tech has kept me going and has built lot's of stuff so he knows what he is doing and he says it won't work. He then asks me have I ever used that Toroid in a JB-2000. I said, no, but I have repaired many amps with bad trannies by replacing the bad tranny with a Toroid. He then called me an idiot and said I didn't know what I was talking about since I never done one before. I said, no, your tech is an idiot, that Toroid would work better than the original Tranny. After that, he went ballistic, sent me an audio clip, which I never opened and also typed in what a terrible person I was, etc, and he was going to block me. I said, go ahead, make my day, please block me and he did.
So, since at the time, I had 2 Blackcat JB-2000's lying around that both needed Trannies, I dug the best looking one out, ordered the same Tranny I gave the idiot the link for and went to work. The new Toroid was bigger than I expected, and it would have taken a lot of moving and shuffling to get it to fit, so I just decided to put it in an old but clean Phantom 500 case I had laying around and make the amp a 2 piece. This amp is monoband, 10-15 meters only and has been upgraded with a bunch of heavier components. Running a pair of good Amperex 3-500zg tubes which I think were among the best 3-500z type tubes made.
Not going into too many details, as I plan on doing a detailed walkthru soon, but will say for 2700v on the plate, running on 110, this amp is rocking and rolling. Though its not quite there during the daytime when I made this video, late last night when I finished working on this amp, with the line voltage higher, this amp was laying the needle in the corner on Peak.
